If you look at the 30" you'll see that he was in bootcamp at the time. To my knowledge there is only a windows hack to use the hd-dvd on a computer.

Well as I said in the post just before you it was a video clip, nothing HD. However the HD-DVD addon works without any hack in windows as long as you have a HDCP display. Unfortunately the ACDs are not.

My father just upgraded to a MacPro and I was lucky enough to get his old Quicksilver. Here are the specs:

Dual 1.6GHz (up from dual 800MHz)
768 MB memory (needs atleast a gig)
80GB HD
120GB HD
USB 2.0 Card
Airport Card
Superdrive
17" Studio Display
JBL Creatures
Running 10.4.8

Such a great computer, it's six years old and still going strong!

Are those intel or powerpc based xserves? How do they sound (i.e. loud fan, constant fan, etc.)?

I'm sensing a lot of capital expenditure with the previous setup.

Intel Xserves, the fans run constant, decently loud, probably about 65-75 decibels, give or take. Get 60 or so of them in a rack and it sounds like a jet turbine, or is that the Air Conditioning... either way one is pretty loud, enough that it'll bother you for the first couple days until you get used to sitting behind a few of them.

As for capital expenditure, yeah, quite a bit, but it's a new business venture, so I expected as much.

Desk is from Ikea, the display up top displays the status of all my servers, I don't actually look at it during the day or when I'm working, it's more one of those things I just quickly glance at and make sure I see all green.

I really don't remember where I found the image of her crouched, sorry!

I've noticed the same hiccup you mention, it doesn't happen very often, but when it does happen, it drives me mad. Have you installed the logitech drivers for it? I hate how they auto switch the scroll modes depending on the app your in.

Haven't been here in a LONG time. Been hanging out at Mac Forums but this place has more setup threads . I have sold my PC so I can be 100% mac.

iBook G3, BOSS BR-864 Recorder, Mini Mouse with a retractable cord

Everything else. Sun 17" Flat CRT, Apple Pro KB, Logitech MX310, Logitech QuickCam, barely see my iPaq.

What I sold my PC to get. What a cute little QuickSilver eh?

CANNON! Its a Digi Audio. I painted it white. Inspired by the iMacs.
My Macbook Specs: 2.4GHZ C2D - 2GB RAM 667MHZ DDR2 - 160GB HD - Superdrive - Intel GMA X3100 - Mighty Mouse - Mac OS X Leopard - Windows Vista Ultimate

It's cool. I found it a few posts up. Not that I use women as my desktop but shes nice.
However, where is the MX Revolution dongle plugged in? is it quite far away or is it plugged in behind your Apple Displays?

I have found the stutter/freezing of the cursor seems to depend on the distance. I have mine plugged into the Apple wired keyboard. It hardly does it if at all now.

No I don't use the Logitech Control Center. I detest it. I do use USB Overdrive though between the MX 1000 and MX Revolution and because of that I can choose between auto scroll/manual scroll. Not software controlled. The only thing that doesn't work with USB Overdrive is the search button. I was hoping there would be an update to USB Overdrive for it, but its been well over a year since the last release.

Hmm thats an interesting idea, I have a 5 foot (40 gallon) tank I was wanting to put in my room though I really like your style of tank.

Yours is still somewhat big and deep but small.

Only thing that puts me off moving it is the sound of the air pumps, droning through the night.

and no my tank doesn't look manky, its the way the camera and the lighting with the tinted green glass is. Plus the clown loaches destroyed all my plants I need more, I could never keep them going on plants.

Thanks for the compliments about my setup. As for the tower being close to the door, it is..but not too close. Happily, that's the door to my closet, so I am the only one who opens it. I enjoy the fish tank being in my room, I don't have an air pump, so its not too loud..

Much needed pair of 500Gb Pros, the Nikon Coolscan next to them outputs pretty high resolution files, so my drives are stuffed with photographs. The irritating thing is that you can't run two same-model MyBooks on the firewire bus at the same time, as they have the same ID, so you have to run one over USB!

This wallpaper can be found here:

this NASA wallpaper everyone keeps asking me for

Use the select list (top right) to get to the large, original. I split it up in Photoshop for use on my combined screens. Good luck.

The ATI X1900 XT drivers that come w/ the card/OS X support rotated displays. I understand that certain other ATI cards have similar capabilities under OS X. That's all it took.

Of course, subpixel anti-aliasing under OS X for rotated displays is broken, just like it is for ClearType under XP.
