What is the average uptime of your macbook?

How long do you keep your macbook running without it going to sleep or turning it off? What type of wear have you noticed? Any hit in performance or system speeds? What are the reasons that you dont leave it on 24/7? The reason I'm asking this is because my macbook is my only machine and I want to know if there could be any long term damage from leaving it on for long periods of time.

I only restart for system updates... there's no reason to regularly restart a modern computer (PC or Mac)/OS (Linux, OSX or Windows).

Mine sleeps daily, but only restarts for system updates and when I need to switch to XP for something.

Hmm so anyone have any specific reasons why you leave it on or turn it off? Just curious what types of workload you put your macbook through while it is on.

I put mine to sleep so it will slide into a cat-safe compartment on my desk. I also shut it down when I leave the house so my GF doesn't find out how much porn I look at online.

If I'm at home I just put it sleep otherwise when I go to work I turn it off to travel. I ride a motorbike to my jobs during the day. I think it might be safer to have it off while getting around town.

After running Aperture and Photoshop I often feel the entire OS slow down. A few times a day or so I restart. I usually do it when I get up to get a coffee or use the facilities.

Like others, I only restart for system updates. I close the lid and put it to sleep during while i'm sleeping.
