I'm looking for a way to have SOME of the function keys on my AlBook work as actual f-keys (instead of having to press fn at the same time). I've heard of hacks that will change the behavior of all, but I only want some changed.

I frequently use the screen brightness and volume keys and want them to remain standard (don't have to use the fn key). All others I don't use enough and want to be able to assign other things to then with KeyXing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Only thing I can think is try Panther, which has a way to define lots of custom keys. Don't know if that would do anything like you seek.

the only thing i can think of is a little app called uControl, but i'm not sure if you can map certain keys...

There's a freeware program called Keyboard Maestro . I use it to make the F11 key open my home folder...though this will obviously have to change once I upgrade to panther
You have to set it to start the Daemon upon startup to make it work all the time.
