Hi all,

I've been on here a couple times about my mom's kernel panic issues. I am typing this on her computer, so I can paste the contents of the panic log, which is very short. Here it is:

Mon Jul 4 07:40:20 2011

That's all there is. Anyone got any ideas? She's running a 1ghz G4 with 1MB L3 cache, 768mb SDRAM and 10.4.11. Any other info. you folks need? Any and all help would be really great, as she's beginning to freak out about this. As a refresher, she was experiencing kernel panics right after having Hughes Satellite Internet hooked up. Whether or not that matters, I don't know, but she thinks it's relevant.

Thank you,

Tom

What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? Have you tested it in Safe Mode for example? Are there any uncommon hardware drivers installed?

If I had to take a wild guess based on the panic, I would suspect it's RAM. But in all honesty, at this point, your mom would be well served by a newer computer. A 1GHz G4 can still get by for basic computer needs, but if it isn't working well it's probably not worth investing too much time in fixing. $200-$300 would buy her far superior hardware.
