i moved my powerbook to 10.5 (from 10.3) today, but this problem existed before i upgraded and persists.
my itunes library size is about 25gigs (when i get info), but itunes only shows about 16gigs. any ideas? and anyway to fix this (without reimporting everything and losing my playlists..)??

thanx!

Where are looking for this information? iTunes lists the library size dependent on the content being displayed. So for me, I have to add up my Music, Movies, TV, and Podcasts folder to get an accurate number.

Could there be files inside the folder that haven't been added to the iTunes library? Remember that adding a file to the iTunes folder does not add it to your library -- you still need to drag it into the iTunes window.

You can always take the whole music folder on the hard disk and drag it into iTunes, to make sure it has everything. It won't re-add files it already knows about.

And to elaborate on what Dakar was saying:
Remember that all podcasts and iTunes videos you download are inside the iTunes music folder, so they are counting towards your 25GB. (Yes, I know...)

And if you add videos on your own, the default on the Mac is for iTunes to copy them there, as well.
