Hi all,

I am pulling my hair out trying to find information on configuring the SMB/CIFS plug-in via the command line. Why? Because I have to roll out a change to 600 Macs via ARD and opening each one remotely and manually editing the settings via Directory Access.app would be tedious.

Does anyone know how to set Workgroup and WINS Server via the command line? Much appreciated in advance!

OK, I figured out that the settings file the SMB/CIFS service reads from is /etc/smb.conf. Changing this file (sudo pico /etc/smb.conf) results in a change reflected in the GUI.

So now the question is, how to automate the editing of this file?
