giFT 0.97 compiles fine under MacOS X...
You can download it from: SourceForge.Net
Unforunately, Kazaa and Morph. have changed their encryption protocol, which screwed up giFT, making it useless. giFT is working on reverse engineering it again, and should have a working product again soon.
Even when they get giFT working, it is a DAEMON, meaning it doesn't actually allow you to search and download stuff...For taht you need a front end application of some sort. There is a Java version and a CGI script of some sort that works, AFAIK.
I also made a MacOS X application that worked with giFT. It was never finished (since they shutdown giFT 2 days after I started but I was at the point where I could search / crudely download stuff.

Sawtooth, you continue your work. Gift works when you give a chance.
It takes a while to get a connection, but it works.

It would be nice to get an OS X client to work with Fast Track. We had to wait for Napster support, we had it at least, though it did lag Winders.
I used Limewire 1.8 and a slew of other apps, none of which work as well as Limewire, which doesn't really mean that much.
I have used iSwipe, MP3Rage, and Macsatellite with only marginal success.
A decent page on the available programs for the Mac is here.

I do plan to keep working on the app, assuming that giFT works in roughly the same way it does now...
Does anyone have any good suggestions for it? What do you think of the UI? Take a look at the screenshot above...I thought you could Cmd-I to 'get info' on the selected file and it would show you all the information...user, client, time, resolution, comments, etc...all the tags...and if you double click it then you would download it. Right now it just open it up in your web browser and you download from there, but eventually it will have multiple download support from within the application itself. Any suggestsions here?
I'm making it in RealBASIC, so there are some limitations, but it can still be a great app, IMHO.

I couldn't tell you about the look and feel of an interface, but I would say that info when downloading is cool, if it can be done.
Things I like personally (and obvioulsy are in the screenshot) are the length of the MP3 (time), size, bit rate and connection speed. I'll take a simple interface as long as the app works.
I just saw Revolution and though I know crap about programming, i thougt I might mention it to you.

The interface looks good, and the "show info" tool is a good idea. Of course, a download manager would be very useful.
Are you planning to post a beta soon?

My favorite GUI is the old Napster client UI. It was intuitive and very functional. RapeMP3 does a good job of capturing some of the elements. All other clients leave a lot to be desired.
I would also looooove a useful client. let me know if you need beta testers.

According to the Linux Read me for Kazza, an OS X only version is in the works. Im guessing it will be command line or Java since it said OS X only.

It can run the same speed as Limewire; I don't care. As long as it works better, that's what matters.
