I'm having problems installing 10.1.1. I see a few other people are as well. Is this normal?
My problem is that I'm told that I need 300MB free, and then the install quits. I have 8gb free. I haven't seen this problem discussed anywhere else.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Not to ask a stupid question, but do you have 300 free disk space on the same partition that X is currently installed?

Yes. When I said I have 8gb free I was talking about my start-up disk. In fat I only have one drive (no partitions or anything). I *do* havea firewire burner, and that is all.

Yes, I did read that. But since it did not say "I have 8GB free on my startup partition", I felt it was worth asking.

Hello,
I ran the Software Update and it shows both updates, so i clicked on both to download and install. After both were finished downloaded, it sorta 'skipped' over the 10.1.1 upgrade and went to install Airport 2.0 (install + optomization went fine, btw). Afte rthat it reported a problem upgrade to 10.1.1 (duh..) BUT it allowed me to save the installer to my local disk -- so thats exactly waht I did. once i had it on my local disks, I then launched it under my normal, everyday admin account, and it reported i didn't have the 300 MB required (had 2 GB !)!! So i loged in as root and it worked fine (but with some text issues )....
It looks like other people are having this 300 MB issue as well.
something's definately up with this installer. thanks god its not 'rm -rf /Volumes/*' though
