Is a 500 MHz G3 iBook sufficient for playing DVDs?

Like the thread title says, will it play DVDs smoothly or will there be occasional stuttering?

Depends. Which OS is running on it, OS 9 or 10.3/4?
OS 9 was okay, but DVD playback in X is much better. I used to have a 366 Indigo clamshell and a DVD drive and never once had any problems with playback.

No problem to play DVDs on 500mhz iBooks. It's very smooth. It's a bit sluggish for big DivX files though, but no problem for DVDs.
