I have an older PB Titanium DVI 667 MHz and plan to purchase an external DVD burner. Since my machine only has the USB 1.0 and FireWire 400 ports i want to ask which kind of burner i should get: an USB or FiWi one?

Firewire is many times faster than USB 1.0.

USB 1.0 is hard to find, too. The 1.1 update is far more prevalent, though it is likely to be less common as days go by and USB 2.0 support components get cheaper and cheaper.

The USB 1.1 standard calls for a max data transfer rate of 12Mbps (that's "megabits per second), while basic firewire maxes at 400Mbps. That's a LOT faster, right?

Even 1x DVD exceeds the practical bandwidth of USB1 (espically with Apple's relatively poor implementation)... FW400 over USB1 any day.
