I'm in the middle of doing my third clean install in the last three months due to an ongoing problem with my MBP 2.16 that is continuing after getting it back from Apple Service. It's gotten to the point where I picked up a mini for a backup.

One of the big pains in having to keep going through this is dealing with username/passwords. Is there a good app out there for managing these so that I could shuttle the info securely between the two 'puters? I've seen references to password managers, but not sure which are good and which to avoid. Keychain handles a few, but I could use something that handles app keys, forum/internet site info, and the like.

Not using many free/share apps these days. Mainly WMV Player(Flip for Mac) and FontexplorerX.

Updating my list:

Quicksilver - app launcher and so much more. It is the first app I put on my Macs.

PDFView - I prefer it over Preview. It opens docs in full-screen view!

Xee - Image viewer. It has also replaced Preview. Scrolling is fast and smooth and it can browser archives like .zip and .cbr files. And the controls are extremely customizable!

The Unread - show the number of unread emails in your menu bar.

Feedpopper - RSS headline grabber. The headlines pop-up in a nice floating window. Click the headline to open the article in the browser. I hate having to jump to another app to browse through the headlines. And if you don't check other readers regularly you fall behind on news. Feedpopper puts the news right in front of me so I read it now, not later.


Honorable mentions: Proteus (I still prefer it over Adium), Adium (it handles chatrooms and Proteus doesn't), Comic Life (it's so much fun to use), The GIMP (the poor man's Photoshop...and a good app nevertheless), Wednesday's List, Fruit Menu, and Menu Master.

Trying not to duplicate what's been posted:

1. Window Dragon - (free) to grab and move a window from any place in the window. Not just the edges. It also sizes the window from any point, not just the bottom right corner. The only app it doesn't work on (that I've found) is MS Word. But it does work on other MS apps.
2. Mail Forward - (about $15 -$20) gathers up e-mail from every mailbox you have and delivers it within seconds to your ISP (and into Mac Mail if you have it set up that way).
3. Opera for when I have problems with Safari or Firefox.
4. SuperDuper - (about $30 for full version; truncated version is free.)
I've used Retrospect and several other backup apps for about 5 years. A few months ago, I started using SuperDuper. Hands down, the easiest BU app I've found.
5. MacSolitaire (free) I like it better than any other solitaire I've tried.
