Finally, I never thought it would happen.
Of course, now I can scoff at their charging full price for 20 year old albums.

I have a feeling that part of the reason there is no Tool is because Tool's CDs are so much more than just the music.
A PDF booklet doesn't quite have the full effect.
The package itself is a work of art.

for stuff like Beatles or Metallica, I'd rather have the CD.
I still prefer CDs to the iTMS, anyway, but the more they have, the better, IMO.
Although I do find it surprising that they dont have the Beatles, and only recently got Metallica...

For the obvious reason why I like iTMS, I dont have to buy all their CD's just for few songs from each, I will save money in the long run. I rarely buy entire CD's from iTMS. I mostly buy 1 or 2 tracks from a cd.

I always wanted to pirate some of their stuff just for the principle. But that would require having that crap on my hard drive.

What are these performers waiting for?
IMHO, you shouldn't be all that surprised that kids are stealing your music online when you don't offer a convenient legal alternative. I'm NOT condoning stealing music, but I'm just not surprised.

While it's about time they are on iTunes. I'm still not givin them a dime. Sorry but their whole issue with Napster in the begining instead of helping to solve the problem they were the problem. besides that. Their new stuff doesn't compare to their older stuff.

Yeah, it's a whole Yin/Yang thing. The music sucks, but the packaging is cool. How can you sell crappy music on iTunes and only have a semi-cool PDF to go with it?

How were they the problem? They are absolutely right about having their music stolen. They went the extra mile to prosecute those who willingly stole their music without paying them. The copyright, aquisition, reproduction laws are there for their benefit and they had the total right to do what they did.

They had the right... but their fans also had the right to say "F@#$ YOU!"
Metallica promoted the copying of their music back in the cassette days when it served them (getting their name out there)... but when it no longer was to their benefit... they were viciously against it.
In 2000, Ulrich really came off looking like an absolute egomaniac... completely out of touch with his audience [many who helped get the band to where they were]. Many criticized Metallica as "living on the royalties of their aging library." To be blunt, their sales really fell off after "And Justice for All" and "Metallica" came out. They went from selling 10+ million to hardly being able to sell 3 million albums.
It was PR suicide...
I think everyone (at least in the US) realized that downloading music for free was somewhat wrong, but listening to him... you would have thought it was a felony crime... instead of simply copyright infringement.
