I hope this comes to Canada soon. I've been looking for an excuse to get Keynote, and it will be nice not having to spend CAD$80 for iDVD (esp. considering I just bought my TiBook last month).

I hope this deal survives the Canadian north too!

Thanks alot for the link, I would have never looked and just ordered my copy (for my fiance of course!)...what a deal, I swear getting married to a teacher has alot of perks. She got her free copy of Jaguar within a week of ordering, I hope iLife/Keynote is the same.

I cant believe it. Sure is great having a Teacher in the family. That makes $300 in software for the low low price of $14.95. Thank you Apple.

Apple should really include full time staff in there. We use it just as often if not more than faculty. Still good to see them doing this.

i still cant justify buying these products for 14.95 even though i'm tempted to buy it for the cheap price.

No need for iDVD... and any presentation stuff i would do in flash.

I think it's great that Apple did this, but you have to keep in mind they need to compete against MS and its edu site licenses. Wanna know how I much paid for Office vX? $12.95.

The only way they can penetrate this market is to be aggressive on pricing.

I think that Apple considers anyone who works at a school to be on the faculty. After all, aren't we all teaching in one way or another

JB

PS: It's very handy nowadays not only being a teacher, but also being married to one, and having lots of teaching relatives. Getting them to get discounted hardware more than once a year (should I be able to afford it) can be a handy thing!

What do you mean by "reach out"?

I'd be interested in what you're able to find out.

Where in the hell did you get Office vX for that price???? I am a teacher and have never seen it that cheap!

On a second thought, has anyone who has ordered the package for $14.95 got a shipping notice yet? Just wondering, as I am a teacher and ordered it, but the credit card is in my wife's name so I was wondering if it has been processed at all. Got my order number from Apple, but no confirmation on it being sent out yet, just wondering if anyone has gottne a confirmation of shipment.
Thanks

Volume Licensing of Office v. X I've seen at $12.95 basically/piece....however, not an individual price for faculty. Maybe the other person was confused.

And no confirmation yet...it will take a day or so I am sure.

Yeah, I paid something like $70 for my copy of Office. Site licence or volume licence - can't remember which our university has. Some schools with site licences just charge the cost of the media. ie. $5.

This is a wonderful deal. Its a great perk to have a teachin' mother. My powerbook was like $300 off or something, and now this is about $135 off. I'm glad I didn't order iLife on amazon.com like I was going to!

I have a semi-related question: What is the X for Teachers package like? I have Jaguar and all, but apparently you get a cd with "over 80 quicktime demo clips" which would be good to show people who ask me how to do certain things... Did anyone get X for teachers?

A friend of mine (a teacher) ordered iLife before they announced the discount for teachers. He called Apple and they just credited him the difference and sent him a copy of Keynote.

OK, that's what I figured out you were referring to after I posted. X for teachers is only available for K-12, though

Consider yourself lucky. I ordered mine the same day you did, and all I got was this response:

Original message:
==========
Good morning. Please advise when my XXXXX order will ship. I understood that orders should arrive in 7 to 10 working days. I ordered a week and a half ago (on January 29), and have not received either the shipment e-mail notification or the actual delivery. I also notice that my credit card has not yet been charged. Please advise. Thank you!

As reported on the MacNN news page, notice in Apple's response how the date is missing in two places, although it says that the order will be processed within two days of the stated date.

AND they spelled it "ILife" and "OSX". I'm such a nitpicker.

MP 2 x 2.8 and etc.
