Training camps open this week, so it's time to setup our 5th annual MacNN Fantasy Football League.

http://football.fantasysports.yahoo...._league_select

LeagueID: 247642
Password: stevejobs

20 spots. Draft is a month away. Let's go!

Edit: Safari seems to have some issues with registration. Try using Camino or Firefox until I hear back from Yahoo.

Got my confirmation email but it's not showing up in my fantasy homepage yet, though...

Try using Camino. I had issues creating the league with Safari for some reason (I got a confirmation email but it never created teh league). I will e-mail Yahoo about it.

Bump. Draft is monday. We'd like to get at least one more team to get an even number. That way no one has a bye week.

I'm in, too, but now you've got an odd number of teams again.

So, anyone else want in? Yahoo says

• Your league will not be permitted to conduct its draft if it contains an odd number of managers.

so I'll bail out by draft time if noone else signs up, since I don't think I can make it to draft day anyway....

No need to bail out if there's an odd number. I got a guy that can fill in if we need a last person.

I limited the number of teams to 10, so if we hit that 10th person, we will be good to go.

OK then, I'll stick around. My pre-draft ranking is all set now. I also noticed that we're at 10 teams, but the max is set to 20 teams now, which would be wild if we could get that many.

If I'm late to the draft, would I still be able to take control of my picks away from the auto-picker?

We got our tenth, so we are set to go. I actually lowered it from 20 to 10 to ensure we could get at an even number and stick at it. The wording is just not very good.

And yes, you will be able to take over from the auto-picker.

I was hoping that in a 20-team league JP Losman might actually be a good pick at QB for someone....

Is the auto picker automatically on or do you have to set it to either be on or off?

If it's similar to prior drafts, then if you're present at the draft, the auto-picker will be used as a default choice, and you'll have a few minutes to make your actual decision. If you're not present, the selection will be made right away, moving on to the next person.

I remember having problems accessing the draft with Safari in the past. You can sign on to the applet something like 30 minutes before the draft actually starts, it might be a good idea to log on a bit early through the browser of your choice and make sure that all the controls work.

I got to the draft late, and noticed that someone appeared to have drafted Randy Moss with the very first pick.

I hope he got mocked for it.

You could say that.

The draft picker conked out on me twice! Oh well. My team isn't bad.

Moss as the first pick is kind of like Mario Williams. Leaves me scratching my head...

It's pretty crappy. That's why I just line things up and let it auto-pick from there.

Don't knock Randy Moss You'll notice that I also took T.O. And Daunte. I think all these players have something to prove, otherwise they'll simply fade away. I wouldn't bank on that; expect banner years from those players.

Or not. It's a hell of a gamble, so I'll either be rewarded or screwed.

But I guess we'll have a much better idea how things are going to shape up by about week three.

Thing is, you could have gotten Moss in the third or fourth rounds...

I would stay away from him simply because he plays for the Raiders. I have a rule: try to avoid Raiders and Chiefs.

I really didn't expect to be getting first pick. The only player I didn't get that I wanted, however, was Reggie Bush, and I could have had him if I had actually logged onto the draft instead of deciding to play racquetball.

"Try to"? Grow a pair! Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins are banned outright from my teams. I can't imagine putting myself in the position of rooting for one of them.

--=[EdY]=--
You're going down this weekend!

McNabb ain't playing Houston, Rudi's against Cleveland - not that sorry KC defense,
and Vanderjagt ... Is Parcells even playing that head case this week?

I'm gonna light you up like a Dell laptop battery this week.

Can't believe it - I dominated all season only to blow it in the playoffs.

You dominated? I was 10-1 before I lost my last two (including getting swept inexplicably by C#). Good thing I got it together when it counted. I guess the bye really helped.

Yep. Look at the points. Granted I was only 60 ahead of you, but in most of my weeks I was beating people by 50 points. And if I would have played correctly in the first round of the playoffs I would've beaten you this week as well.

That's how it goes, though, and it's what makes fantasy football so interesting.

3rd place, baby.

Not too shabby for the crappy team I started with.

Congrats on a great season, iTeam.

Yeah... assuming I would've done all the stupid things I did this week (like benching Clayton and not signing Tampa Bay or Lindell). I almost botched away my victory. Regardless, we were the only two teams over .500, so I guess we both dominated.

After that heartbreaking loss in the final 2 years ago, victory is finally mine!

Thanks, CJ!

I wonder how many people signed up but didn't play. There were 4 teams that never made a single trade or pickup off the waivers...
