I just went to the main MacNN page and my Safari browser is reporting that it contains a Malware site - and lists w91t.com as the culprit (probably some advertiser)
Anyone else share the same problem?

Yes, there was an issue this morning and this should be resolved now. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hadn't seen this before... Safari (5.0) alerts me that "This site may damage your computer" before allowing me to enter LEGACY.macnn.com (my preferred view). Just noticed it for the first time this morning.
I wonder if the "legacy" subdomain has been compromised? Or are the triggers that Safari uses just now becoming stricter?
If anybody know what violation MacNN | Apple, iPod, Mac news @ The Macintosh News Network might be committing, I'd find that interesting.
[ Note: I get the warning only once (with a confirmation alert). Thereafter I have to delete legacy.macnn.com's cookies to get the warning. ]

These warnings are because of a rouge advert, looks like it's crept back in again.

I'm seeing this as well. It's unfortunate when the main page of the site has a big "do not enter your your computer may be compromised" message...

In theory I like the idea of getting rid of all rouge adverts. Who makes that call though? Seems like we already have few enough females here as it is. Does MacNN really want to be taking this step? Maybe next you'll be eliminating all the DirectBuy "dream kitchen" advertisements to? What about ads for female clothes - are they gone too? If this keeps up it'll be nothing but a bunch of dudes on the internet, talking about whatever shit they want.
I'm a little disappointed. I'm not gonna lie to you on this one.

I'm not bashing the adverts because I don't want a kitchen, I'm bashing the advert because it's trying to push malware from an infected site! You have no idea how many scareware infestations I deal with because of those hijacked banner ads (and Internet Explorer (customers!!)). I was suggesting we get rid of whichever one is on w91t.com or someone should fix w91t.com.

You needn't assume it is a personal message. The warning might refer to the site.

I think they're thrown up automatically due to the "iPad" keyword.

I don’t see the alert at all. I suppose I’m served different ads, being in Denmark, and therefore the culprit never makes it to me?

All I can comprehend from the page source is that it checks the browser agent for XP and runs something coded in javascript.
I cannot read the language it's written in, some of our linguistics experts probably could.
Note: I do not advise visiting the site unless you are on a computer of which you consider the OS disposable.

Hah. That’s quite funny, actually: the JavaScript is written in transcribed Chinese.
There are variables with names such as jintian (today), buyaozaishale (don’t kill any more), zheyangjiubushale (there we go, no more killing now), anlaijiangyidian (let’s decrease N a bit), shanghuishuodao (the last one mentioned), and my own personal favourite: meibanfa (can’t be done/we’re f*cked).

I got it today, 11am GMT. Safari and Google are blocking it. MacNN is listed in Google search as 'may harm your computer'.

I got a warning today that MacNN would harm my mental health.
Well, I knew that already, but it's too late. I've turned clinically insane a long time ago

Also, I am getting a flash error that something called point.speedroll.com (I think, the error is gone now) is trying to communicate and may be malware. Bad ad?
