While visiting my family in Michigan, I noticed that I had received a few texts while on Rogers. There are a few weird spots close to Port Huron where AT&T fades but Rogers come in relatively strong. I had international data roaming switched off so I should be ok as far as data charges--but it raises an interesting question. Am I responsible for international roaming if I'm physically located in the U.S. ? I guess that would be hard to prove but still.

Sure, you are, if you are roaming, you are roaming, no matter where you are physically.
