When I click on the exclamation mark I get an error message:

"A calendar wasn’t found on https://p15-calendars.icloud.com/holiday/US_en.ics. Check the URL."

But I'm not using any URLs.

What's going on? How do I "check" it?

Your subscribed to the Holidays Calendar to your region.
Now just click on the calendar within Calendar app >Get Info, you'll see a pop-over
window with all the info including the URL.

Sometimes the calendar in question has a disconnect with server, mine did 2days ago
for an hour or so.

Go to Calendar>Preferences>General you'll see 2 check-boxes at bottom
Birthdays & Holidays.
You should just refresh the Calendars, in Menu Calendar>View>Refresh Calendars or ⌘R
This should bring it back into sync.

I don't ever remember voluntarily subscribing to it.

Alright, I am confused. I have done the Calendar app > Get Info step and I see the window with the URL.

What do you want me to do with it?

Alright, I see the two checkboxes.

Again, what do you want me to do with them??

It didn't work. It said "Calendar... Updating" at the top, for 30 seconds, and then, I still have the exclamation mark in a triangle.

Do you have LittleSnitch or something else running that might be blocking network connections?

I don't have any idea... I've never even heard of LittleSnitch. I sometimes have this issue at my apartment and at work.

I just checked and all of a sudden it's working like normal again. I didn't do anything to it.

Sometimes it happens at home and sometimes at work? It sounds like you're having issues with network access to the calendar server, not issues with the calendar itself.

And now it's not working again.

If I'm having network access to the calendar server, then why doesn't Apple just fix their calendar server?

I don't have this network problem with accessing Birthdays or syncing my iCloud docs.

I haven't either, nor have most other people, which indicates it's not an Apple problem.

A network has a LOT of places for one server or another to not connect with one user or another. When I said it sounded like network access issues, I was referring to the networks at your apartment and your work. First, your home network could have issues due to your ISP or your ISP's DNS system. And at work, your business network could easily have been configured (recently, maybe) to block certain servers - which is often a source of "unexpected consequences."

If you didn't voluntarily subscribe to this and don't care for it, go to Calendars —> Preferences —> General and uncheck "Show Holidays calendar"
