Big price cuts tomorrow for the iPhone...but not in the Apple Store. 3G imminent?
Source: BBC Radio 5 Live. Not on the BBC web site yet.
GBP 169 = USD 340, inclusive of sales tax.

So you have to go into a store then and not online for any of them?

it's a promo apparently and independent of Apple UK, so O2 are seemingly throwing away their entire profit on each phone sold.
Must be that overwhelming popularity. Actually according to O2 it's because they feel that everyone in the UK that really really wants one has bought one so now they need to bring the price down inot the next bracket of potential owners.
Given that the 8Gb ipod Touch is £199.00 that means that O2 are effectively throwing in a free phone with a cheaper ipod touch! Good deal!!

I took a trip to Carphone Warehouse and picked up one. It would be rude not to, really.

Did they make you sign up to the contract in-store or did you just pay for it and walk out without handing over your details?
I'm thinking about getting one but will definitely be unlocking it and sticking with my existing deal...

If you can buy it without a contact that would be great

No contract. Walked in, purchased, waked out. Job done.

That's great! That makes it a total bargain then - i'm gonna get one.
Even if they bring out an amazing new 3G iPhone in 2 months time you'd still be able to sell an unlocked current iPhone on eBay for at least £150, I'm sure of that.

Hey get this. Not only did I get the iPhone for £160 (I am the OP on this thread), today I received a voucher in the post for £100 for Carphone Warehouse. It looks like there are no strings attached (I don't have to spend £500 to get the £100 discount or anything). CW sells all sorts of techy stuff, so I am well sorted.
My brand new iPhone (in effect) cost £60.

Nice!
Sadly I was a day out in buying a £160 iPhone, looks like I'll have to wait for the new ones.
