With 10.5, by default, there is a download Stack in the Dock. The frontmost icon in the download stack is the latest file; which is the one you're busy downloading and Safari's download icons update themselves with a percentage bar.
In my opinion, all of this together defeats the purpose of the downloads window. If you want to know how much longer or how fast your download is going, then yes, you need the downloads window. I hardly ever look.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to disable the downloads window?
I can't find an option in Safari, so I was thinking of maybe editing the .nib files for the downloads window. The problem with this would be that if I did want to open the downloads window I couldn't.
Any non-destructive ideas?
