sucks.

Seriously, this app does not even follow the basic rules for an iPad app. In particular, when you exit the app the next time you start it, it does not return to the page you were last on. :
It always starts up with the splash screen then goes to the carousel where you can select an article by swiping through the carousel.

This is so damned annoying that unless they change this behaviour, it's getting the jiggly-x treatment.

I don't think I'm all that interested in the app anyhoo as it seems like the iPad equivalent of one of those slick paper magazines - all fluff and no real content.

Whatcha all think about it?

I can't be arsed to try it, even though it's free.

Listening to the coverage, it seems like there are actually a few good ideas going on, but Murdoch is too much of a turn-off. Sensationalism is in his DNA.

Now, if The Economist did a version. I'd pay a buck a day, teething pains and all.

P.S.: I like the verb "to jiggly-x".

Yeah. "jiggly-x" came to me all of a sudden as I was composing the post.

I think it should become the official terminology when referring to that UI element.

I agree, The Daily has a horrible UI.

I tried it for two days, but navigating the articles is such a PITA that I will probably not use it again.

Tried it. The carousel navigation was jittery. The ads were too intrusive, too many, were more feature rich than the content and took too long to load.

They've update The Daily again.

Still doesn't remember the last page you were reading upon relaunch.

Still FAIL.

I am also very unimpressed. The interface is interesting, but more sizzle than steak. And the articles are fluffy and bland.

Meh.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.
