Blizzard killed them because their name too closely resembled the name of other Blizzard products. They could challenge this under the same court order that let Lindows keep it's name, but they make no money, and paying court costs would be too high.

I just don't get this - the Starcraft/Brood War pack only costs $20 - why not just buy it? It's a product I gladly payed for.
When a game is as well done as that why not pay for it?

Warcraft. I repeat WARCRAFT. I own StarCraft but I like Warcraft's story line better. Freecraft is just a front end so you can play it on OS X. Same as freecnc lets you play Command & Conquer and Red Alert on OS X. You have to own the games anyways (I do)

i think warcraft ii bne is available at target for like $10 (it has been previously, at least). it's just a cd case, not boxed. it runs alright in classic but i can't seem to get IPX networking working in it (only a problem if you're doing multiplayer with PC's on a LAN).

My classic has lots of problems. It runs Command & Conquer and thats it. So I'd rather go with a native option.

I could play the PC version of Red Alert on OSX?!?
If that's true then I'm so going to play that!

If freecnc can compile for you, you can. My friend has been playing it for about a month now but I can't get it to compile.

Nope. It reads the game from .mix files (which is where all the data is stored. Westwood was just too lazy to release a Mac reader for those files.

I see 3 people are downloading it already, and I'm only on a Cable modem, so I added it to my iDisk public folder as well, for as long as that holds out. User name is "genevish".

OK, if you get a message that you need the Ogg Vorbis framework, I put it in the same places. You need to unstuff it to /Library/Frameworks/
Hopefully it'll work then...
