Hi,

I have a Java program which uses a very ugly Java icon that I would like to replace. I have my preferred picture, but it has a white background which looks ugly on the dock. Could someone please get rid of this for me? I know its a bit of a large request, but I don't own photoshop or anything capable of doing this that I'm aware of.

I had to blow up your image and apply a slight blur. Next time, please save it as a PNG and use 512 x 512 dimensions.

I see you even saved it for me in icon format, thanks!

I do have a slight problem though... It's not showing up. Instead I get the Preview ICNS icon. Both in Finder and on the dock.

It looks great otherwise, thank you very much!

EDIT: I should clarify that. The icon file itself is previewed in Finder, just not when I add it to the Java app.

Well, this is how you'd apply your icon: http://localhostr.com/files/ca0b20/How-To.mov

And instead of iSync, you'd apply it to the Java App, and whatever the original .icns file was named, is ALSO going to be the one that you want to apply. Feel free to ask anything else

It's not a .app file, sorry. Showing Package contents won't work, as its not a package. It's just a Java launcher. Typically I change icons by getting info on it and then pasting the icon there, but it didn't work in this instance. I had my original file with the white background working, but yours didn't work. It's very odd.

CandyBar doesn't work. It won't even let me select it because its not a .app package.

Hmm.. Well towards the end of the page, it seems you can only change the icon from the dev menu..

I couldn't seem to get those to work. I just couldn't figure out how to properly compile the Java doc in to a .app package. But.. I did try sending your icns file you gave me through img2icn and the resulting file worked, so I'm happy

Thanks for the help, and the wonderful icon!

How about making it a .gif file or a .ping and use the transparency option...

ICNS2RSRC. Google it then use the good old "Get Info" icon changing tool.

It didn't work because they had the ICNS file, which you can't copy/paste. Hence the need for ICNS2RSRC.
