Hey everyone! It's been discussed from time to time, and we are finally doing it. MacNN is creating a monthly newsltter, to be (at first) distributed via PDF.

Just a thought...
(you are going to get a lot of these, and most likely will be annoyed by us know it alls that can't let well enough alone)
Have you though about a column on Macs in the enterprise and coexisting in a Windows/Mixed environment?
On that note, I would be very interested in writing on this topic, if not as a regular column, then perhaps as an article. I think it's a grand idea (not my idea- the idea of the newsletter).

Have you thought about having some articles "commissioned?" Some people will have expertise in interesting areas but will not want to be regular contributers. It might be nice to have a policy that allows those who are interested in submitting an article could sent the editor an abstract. If it looks like an interesting idea, commission the article, and publish it as a special interest piece.
You might be surprised at both the quality of the ideas and the writing (both good and bad), but you will definitely have a number of very interesting things submitted.

I would personally prefer seeing a printed MacNN Journal.
I would love to work on such a project, and could see it taking off if people took the articles seriously. If we could create something half as nice as 2600, it would be a major hit.
I have a printer in mind and also think that the costs associated with a journal would be minimal. I also feel that we could use the extra money to upgrade the forum and upgrade the journal (more pages etc.) if it took off.
I think many of us here would be willing to pay $5 - $10 for a years subscription to a quarterly MacNN journal. If we could scrimp and save, it would provide a bit of resources for the community (free t-shirt give away, etc. etc. etc.)
Although it would be more work, I think we could make a magazine MUCH better then some of the big boys (considering they take FOREVER to get their articles out and when they do, they are 90% advertisements, 5% fluff and 5% real information/opinions).
Just my 2
