Topic says it all. My system is Tiger retail, bought 4 hours ago.

When I try to use it, it gets stuck but doesn't give any error. No beachball/crashing, just the status bar which remains unchanged. I've repaired permissions, rebooted, waited for it over 30 minutes etc.

Has the port which it uses changed or something? If so, I might change some settings in my firewall.

I'm having the same issue.

Archive Installed Tiger. Progress bar just hangs when Checking for new software...
Firewall is Off.

Other than this I've had no problems.

Do you use Airport and have ethernet disabled? If so, put it on(select something else than off in TCP/IP settings of your ethernet card) and try again.

Worked for me and others at http://discussions.info.apple.com

There's iLife and iWork updates, I assume most people have iLife. I found them via software update, and it hasn't been hanging for me. No actual OS updates yet of course!

I'm not sure if mine is broke...

There has been an update to iTunes and DVD Player, both of which I had to manually download from Apple as they did not show up in Software Update. Anyone else have this problem?

I am having this problem too. I am not sure if Apple did not release those to Software Update or what, but I did not see either one of them. I did get a update to some codec thing today though via SU, so I guess it works.
