"In November, you’ll be able to buy a new laptop that’s spillproof, rainproof, dustproof and drop-proof. It’s fanless, it’s silent and it weighs 3.2 pounds. One battery charge will power six hours of heavy activity, or 24 hours of reading. The laptop has a built-in video camera, microphone, memory-card slot, graphics tablet, game-pad controllers and a screen that rotates into a tablet configuration.'

How do they know you can read for 24 hours? What a stupid benchmark.

I'm not getting an XO, but I'm getting an eee PC as soon as they're available. Those things kick ass.
Sell or send me your vintage Mac things if you don't want them.

And sure enough, the bloggers and the ignorant have already begun to spit on the XO laptop. “Dude, for $400, I can buy a real Windows laptop,” they say.
I would bet that the XO would run better.

Anyhow, while I have no need for nor does any of the children in my immediate family, I may purchase one for a donation.

The XO takes two minutes to start up. I doubt it.

Seriously. When will companies start taking gaming in the third world seriously?

I do not think I will be getting one, will be getting my first Apple soon hopefully.
Though I would think it would be a great idea to purchase one and donate to someone.

You would think Nigeria would have a massive gamer army considering all the money they make.

I know, I keep helping all these Nigerian business men, and never get any reply on how things are.

Better in the sense of "not Windows": absolutely.

Better by most other common metrics: not really. It's intentionally designed to be low-power and cheap.

I think I want to get one. I'm sure there will end up being a ton of apps developed for them on the cheap. The lack of memory isn't much of an issue with all the web apps out there (google apps, etc).

It should be sweet.
