How would a new Mac Pro allow me to use Windows video cards? Still have the EFI vs. BIOS issues I thought.

You replace the BIOS-compatible firmware on the video card with an EFI-compatible firmware.

Yep... anyone know why Intel releases products on a Sunday (in the US)? So they can hit the streets in Asia on Monday morning?

Shame on you Apple! How *dare* you physically prohibit the original poster from buying your products? Ever hear of the story of Rosa Parks? Get with it Apple, and stop discriminating against people. You should allow it so that anybody who wants to buy your products can, even if they can't afford them! This is our right as Americans, no? Doesn't it say in the constitution "you shall consume whatever thee desire"?

I'm writing a letter to my congressman...

Edit: I was so angry that my pen tore through the paper I was writing on! I'll have to work on this later when I'm a little less steamed...

This should mean release very soon. Apple would have to be insane to let other PC manufacturers get a head start on Penryn. I think anyone suggesting they will release in January has a few screws lose.

Hell yeah!

Harpertown! (four cores)
Xeon X5482 - 3.2 GHz / 12 MB / 1600 MHz - TDP 150 W - $1279

Did anybody say thermal design?

And before anybody goes nuts over the prices of the new MP: the two CPUs for the octo-core MP at 3.2 GHz alone will cost Apple north of $2k.

I'm not so sure. I think Apple will be getting discounts, both for being Apple and ordering in bulk.

That said, it'll still be a nice chunk of change for the Octo 3.2 ghz ones.

Certainly they will be getting discounts. The 1k price would be $2,558. But don't expect them to get more than 20% discount max.
