Hi, I'm planning on getting a new MBP soon (base spec 15") mostly for Pro Tools use, but Pro Tools is not yet Leopard Compatible. I'd love, however, to be running Leopard for all other personal apps if possible.

Is it possible to dual boot Leopard and Tiger from the same hard drive? How can I partition the drive if needed?
Thanks!

Yes you can run both.

1. Open disk utility in the utilities folder.
2. Select drive to partition.
3. Select partition type. In your case 2 partitions.
4. Name your partitions.
5. Hit apply.
6. In a few moments your drive will be partitioned.
7. Reboot with installer dvd(hold c key on keyboard).
8. Install OS to new partition.
9. After all that, when you reboot and want a different OS just hold down the option key on your keyboard to select what OS to start up.

OR

If you have an external hard drive then you could just install leopard or tiger there and just hold down the option key on reboot to get the same screen as step #9 above.

These instructions should be done after you back up your Tiger unless you install on an external, because partitioning a drive can destroy all your data. Although if you had Leopard installed first then the disk utility can create partitions without destroying your data, haven't tried this feature yet so user beware.

I have done a Leo/Tiger dual boot... The partition, etc. went well, but I did notice really slow startup times.

I have Tiger on my internal drive and Leopard on my external right now, it works fine. Boot times for me are pretty fast.
