I am about to pick up a heap of Flash work from a vendor who uses PCs for their web development. Other than the fonts [gosh I hope they used OpenType] does anyone know if I can I expect the FLAs to function identically on my Mac as on their PCs? We are both on CS3.

I know the balance of Adobe's products were fine [we won't talk about the file typing headaches of ZIP'ed EPS files from a pure PC environ. ] and Quark certainly never complained too much.

Any light or at least road map that can be provided would be appreciated. than-q in advance.

I use Macs at school and PC at home so far there hasn't been any problems. They both work the same except for obviously the key commands which are pretty similar anyways.

The font issue isn't really a MAC or PC thing it can happen on any OS if they don't have the same fonts they won't display correctly. You always should carry a back up of your fonts with you or worst comes to worst outline your fonts in Illustrator. >_<""

hey I'm doing the opposite: Inheriting flash player 8 fla files (with a mix of as1 and as2) and opening the file in flash cs3.

When I open the fla I get the font mapping dialog box saying i don't have arial bold, arial bold and a whole heap of fonts installed and saying it will use the sytem default unless I switch them to different fonts

... The problem is i do have these fonts installed on windows.

Has anyone else had this problem and no a good fix?

Well, I don't know much about how Windows handles fonts. However, I do know that sometimes applications require you to have the EXACT same version of a particular font installed to avoid mapping issues.

For instance, you might have the OpenType or ClearType version of Arial Bold. But, the .fla file was created using the TrueType version of Arial Bold. Or, perhaps they used a Mac TrueType font and you have a Windows TrueType font.

Now, I don't have experience with how Flash handles fonts, but, if I had to guess, I'd say that's what's happening.
