a buddy is having some major problems with his panther G5. Amongst other problems, Mail.app has just stopped auto-completeting from the addressbook. Its turned on in the view settings, there are addresses in the addressbook, but they don't show up. Any ideas why? I thought maybe it was file vault maybe screwing up the preferences, but he doesn't have it running.

By "view settings" do you mean the Composing section of Mail.app's preference pane?

I was experiencing the same thing, but fixed it by going to the preferences and checking "Autocomplete addresses" in the composing section, even though I don't have an LDAP server.

Apparently, one of the recent updates switched this preference off.

thanks dude, but yep that setting is on.
