Macromedia is currently looking for examples of Flash movies that perform measurably worse on OS X than on Windows - according to Andrew, "we hope to get some great feedback and finally get the mac player up to par."

start the deluge, I know I've got tons of examples.

That seems strange as it seems to me an overall slowness not only slow when they use X feature. Still its good to hear the want to get speed parity. I wonder how much they take advantage of altavec?

I don't think Macromedia are to blame for shoddy Flash perfomance on the Mac. I know Flash perfomance prior to 6 was shoddy, but on OS 9 IE with Flash Player 6 i got better frame rates than on my PC for the first time ever.

However, having switched to X, IE flash performance is noticably slower (although acceptable). The only browser that seems to run flash well is Chimera. And we all know about Safari Flash performance

For an example, check out www.2advanced.com in Chimera - you get near real-time performance. Then look at it in Safari - you must get about 5-10 fps max.

Internally it's been fixed. There is a rumor of a new Safari build for public use but who knows for sure if and when?
