Indeed there are numerous differences.

Super-mods can moderate any post in any forum, have the ability to ban members, make announcements (I think), and a couple of other things that I don't remember. Those are the important ones.

Admins can do all of that, plus we have the ability to edit any part of a user account (except private messages, which we can neither view nor edit), as well as the ability to edit the forums themselves (e.g. change rules, settings, policies, create/edit/destroy forums, assign moderators, change user group privileges, edit HTML templates, etc.). In essence, admins have full control over every aspect of the vB software and the MacNN forums it generates. What we admins don't all have access to -- because we don't need it -- is the servers themselves. We don't all have shell access to do things to the underlying server software (database, PHP, etc) nor to the raw forum files, like the actual database files.

There are only 3 Super Mods. You or Peter aren't it. Most moderators including Peter are moderators, Tooki is an Admin.... unless that page was never updated

The page is self-updating -- and correct. What we did was put a few mods into the vB-provided super-mods group on a trial basis. When it proved to be successful, we just altered the privileges for the Moderators group to make it the same as super-mods. Why? Because you have to manually add someone to the super-mod group, whereas vB will automatically add someone to the Moderators group simply by assigning them a forum. It was easier to just redefine the privileges of the Moderators group.

When I was a message board host on AOL all those years ago, we were NEVER allowed to post personal things with our Host accounts. We had to use a personal account only for posting personal opinions, etc and anything that could remotely be construed as one.

That's exactly what we had to do on AOL. And recall, that was in the days of dial-up when it could take you 20 minutes to finally get through to AOL.
