Hi guys, just thought I'd let you know that I've finally finished Menufela! (a haxie that hides the menubar).
You can get it at, www.ninjakitten.us

I'm excited! Seems to work awesome so far. Thanks!

Too bad how the menu extras don't transition smoothly like the rest of it... would it be possible to have an adjustable speed transition? I for one would prefer it to simply appear there.

And I'm glad to see you got a good preview movie in place of that other one with the shaky cam looking at the screen.

Edit: I remember you saying that there is no way around hiding the dock. I noticed that I can manually turn hiding off after menufela turns it on. Couldn't you just have it run an applescript to make sure hiding is on when a new app opens? I'm not actually interested in this, but I have a feeling other people are.

Yes but when you switch between applications it goes away again so I probably can't do it without making the dock flash on application switching, but I'll see what I can do, look out for it in 1.1

It doesn't seem to play very nicely with Safari... works completely as advertised otherwise.

Please send me a bug report on [email protected] Please don't post it here, I don't want other people to start complaining about bugs they wouldn't notice otherwise (I'd much rather fix them before they do)

hmmm...I use shapeshifter and when I toggle the spotlight, it reverts back to the aqua one, not the one your actually using (I mean the theme your using). I also use silk and it has totally changed to a font I used awhile back. I've tried clearing the cache with Onyx, but I always have issues with Silk. I don't know if you can fix it on your end or not, but surely the SS one at the very least. Looks promising. Good work!!

This is probably a stupid question, but is this a Tiger only haxie?

It won't load under 10.3.9, I keep getting "Preference Error" messages. Anybody else having this problem?

I really like this app a lot.

Unfortunately, it seems to break MaxMenus. Of course, it might be logical that the upper two corner menus might be disabled, but even the lower two are as well.

I'm not really complaining . . . I know no dev can test against every obscure system enhancement out there, and I'm sure you've got much higher priorities. But I'll just throw it out there that if Menufela could be made to work with MaxMenus, I'll buy it instantly.

Cheers!

I'll make sure to fix that once ShapeShifter gets released for intel (I only have a macbook pro)

I'm adding all bugs reported to my bugdb and will try to fix as many as I can for each new release

p.s. If you guys find more bugs, please email me so that I'll have an easier time filing bugs

I'm not sure, it might be because it's a universal binary. I haven't been able to debug with Panther. I've got some old g3 tower in the basement so I might try compiling it on that to see if I can get it working on panther.

No need to say this is THE minimalist dream. You've just written a piece of GUI history fjolnirasg.
Thanks !

Check System Preferences:Application Enhancer:Menufela
There's a Master Excluse List.

Safari was one of the ones I had excluded. Highlight and click minus and it won't be excluded(restart safari to verify).

What problems are you having with Safari when you have this turned on? I'm not seeing anything wrong so far.

It seems to cause MSN Messenger to change your status to 'busy' when you switch between apps and ignore its own settings.

Otherwise, it's pretty neat. I do wonder if the toolbars of some apps should slide up to fit in the menu bar spot so the menu bar unhides over them or leave a gap. Some apps show up one way, some the other.

Nice Haxie, only thing i have noticed is when trying 'top' in terminal it says
-bash: /usr/bin/top: cannot execute binary file

this also happened when barmaid was used. It must conflict with the way the haxie runs.

I don't think that's menufela's fault. At least I just ran top with no problem. And "cannot execute binary file" suggests that your copy of top is corrupted

i dont get the whole thing with the dock. sometimes the menubar hides as well as the dock, and then the dock doesnt hide even though hiding is on.

is this normal for safari?

It has glitch with application window display in Expose, it pushes the front most window of the app window you choose down below where the menu bar is normally displayed.

Great little app! A major step forward for us minimalists!

On the downside for me is the fact that due to the way PopChar is implemented it is unavailable when menufela is active. But, alas, since I don't need it very often, I don't bother too much.

i miss seeing the mail indicator, when i have new mail.
but not a big deal...

fruitmenu works great with this, btw...

great work! will use it for a week, and see if it's essential for me (but glad to see others committed to it!)

I just bought it, however it only works in certain applications. It doesn't work in the Finder. It seems to be working in all my other apps EXCEPT the Finder. Any ideas? I've got a MBP w/ 10.4.7...

Edit: Forget it, got it working...had to log out after installing

I believe also just restarting your apps works. If you had quit the finder and opened it again then it should have worked
