Well I just did to hold me over until the touch is released at the end of the month. I actually like the new look and goes well along side a Macbook Pro. My first ipod was a 3g which I still have. I then moved onto a white 1st gen ipod video which was lost. Next I picked up my 1st gen nano which held me over until the fat nano arrived today. Gotta love apples product updates, now if we could just get an fm tuner that be nice.

You will see HD Radio on an iPod before you will ever see an FM radio (old technology). I use the FM Remote which puts the FM and presets onto the main screen, its not a problem, no worse than an Apple Remote Control. It even can be programmed to have presets.

Your probably right, not that I need a radio because I've got dozens of podcasts but it's good just to have.

How does it feel in your hand? How do you like it?

I stopped by my apple store today to play with them, but they weren't expecting any untill the weekend, tomorrow at the earliest.

I also love the fatty's look. I just bought an iPhone so there's no justification for a new nano. Maybe I can convince my wife that she needs one. LOL

As long as the primary motivation for buying an iPod is NOT HAVING TO LISTEN TO THE ****ING RADIO, Apple's FM tuner will always be an external accessory - as it is today.

Now that I think of it I guess your right. I just see other players include that feature so I guess I expect apple to include it. Apple really could care less about radio as they want you to purchase music from Itunes.... I have seen the light lol.

There is a reason it's called an MP3 player-- it's for when you don't want to listen to the radio! GASP! SHOCKER!

That said, I won't be picking up a nano until capacity goes up. I honestly would be willing to pay $250 for a 16GB version. (or, hell, $300 for 32 GB haha).

No, just me. I'm just a cynical, sarcastic person. I hope they keep the same body shape and colors when they update it with higher capacities (at least the blue and green, they look great).

What do you think of the new interface? I don't quite get what I've seen of it: There's random album art floating around behind the menu? Does cover flow work well?

Cover flow works fine, but it feels nice when you can touch your music instead of scroll wheel your muic.

As for the interface, it's beautiful. It's incredible. It's nice eye candy.

Well, Apple has never been about having the most features on paper.

They're pretty much the only company to have realized that feature overkill inevitably makes products LESS usable.

And, as either Jonathan Ive or Steve Jobs has said in an interview, "It's a LOT harder to REMOVE a feature once it's there, than to add it."

I initially had negative feelings about the new Nano until using one yesterday. Must admit I like it more than my current gen Nano. The screen is amazing. You don't have to hold it up to your eyeballs to see. And thin? Holly molly, it's like a credit card.

I didn't like it at first - but my wife got one, and I have to say it's massively cooler in person. Video looks great on that small screen. I might have to convert. I had thought it was too wide vs the current nano.

Looks a million times better in person.

It really is stunning. I think the problem is the bevel on the sides of the front make it look like it's a big rounded thing, when in reality it's super thin. The bevel is very subtle.

Playing with it for 5 minutes made my 1G Nano look completely dated and old fashioned.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Totally agree. Seeing it in person makes you do a complete 180 if you'd ever used the word "fugly!"

I can't believe there's such a difference between seeing a leaked pic on a rumor site, to holding the gorgeous thing in your fingers.

And the 204 dpi display makes text look virtually printed, it's that sharp. I wish LCD monitors were available with 204 dpi, ready for when Leopard brings resolution independence.

I totally agree, looked at one last saturday and the screen looks soooo crisp (shame the ipod touch aren't in stores till the 28th). High pixel density is the future!!!

I think that the old design looked better but the new design has gained some cool features.
The new features do not interest me though so i went out and bought myself a 2G Nano that was on sale.

Wow, I didn't know they were even shipping at all yet? Do the stores have them, or did you just get lucky?

Some of the stores have them, 1 out of 3 apple stores near me had them and only the 16gb version.

This is the iPod NANO thread.

You want the iPod TOUCH thread in this same forum. (And in there, it's in the unboxing photos.)
