does anyone know of a way to achieve a live desktop on leopard similar to dreamscene on vista ultimate. vista is in my opinion comlete garbage but this one feature is pretty cool in my book.

Don't have clue as to what Dreamscene is but if you're looking to have a dynamic desktop bgscreensaver 1.1 will allow you to use a screensaver as the desktop picture.

The app is an AppleScript that enables/disables bgscreensaver 1.1 as needed.

Thats exactly what dreamscene is; takes movies and makes them into your background. Why this is an Ultimate "feature" only is beyond me, besides the need to squeeze money from the consumer.

now that is a really neat app. if i only knew where to get some nice scenic screensavers (hint hint) to test this with!

Many utilities give you the option to do this such as: Cocktail, Deeper and Onyx. All it does is allow you to use a screensaver to do what Dreamscene does.
