This is from an email I sent to Apple:

After having problems with my computer (running 10.2.6), I had to do an Archive & Install using my Jaguar CD. I opted to "Preserve Users and Network Settings" as well.

When I finished and opened iTunes, all of my regular music was there, except for the music I had purchased. I tried selecting "Check for Purchased Music", however it said "All purchased music has been downloaded." I checked my account information, and it shows that I was charged for the music.

How do I get back the music which I was charged for and which shows up on my account information?

They told me to use the Find feature to locate the files, but it turns up nothing.

My HD is not corrupted, because all my other songs (not from the iTMS) work fine, as well as everything else on my computer.

Any suggestions?

I cant use the service yet being in Canada but thats a good point. Once you download a song off the service is it free to download again incase you lose the file. After all hard drives fail, and things get deleted.

So if I click "Buy", it won't charge me another 99 cents?

I bought an Album (Boston- Third Stage) and the songs downloaded. I was charged .99 a song instead of the stated price of $9.90. I was overcharged about $1.10 and tried for days to get a refund of the difference. Apple is going to refund my buck but they swear I downloaded the album song by song when I didn't. Steve Jobs (or someone with his email) also sent me an email and asked it I was "fibbing", which I wasn't. I commend Apple for making things right but has anyone else been charged incorrectly?

Does anyone know what the acutal AAC files are saved as (the filename)?

Is it just the name of the song?
Because I cannot find them on my HD, even though it says that the "purchased music has been downloaded".

Could I authorize another computer, then download the songs there, then transfer them back to my computer?

From the iTunes Music Store Support Site:
If your hard disk becomes damaged or you lose any of the music you've purchased, you'll have to buy any purchased music again to rebuild your library.

Except, the files should be there, as all my other ones are.

Erm. No they didn't. Read that again.

They charged $13.86 to your credit card. Your amount due is $0.00 because they just charged the card.
