b20 (yes, I know b21 came out last night) seems to take up a monstrous 20 per cent CPU when I'm not using the UI.

I presume it's cataloging, but whatever it's doing it's causing too much of a performance hit.

Is this just my setup, or perhaps that I have a smallish boot partition, or is this a general woe? I've not seen anyone else kvetch about it.

On the other hand, it's a pretty impressive app. Someone said it was the Mac OS X poster child. Agreed. It turns heads.

Not sure what could be happening on your system, but I get 0% cpu use when idle, and around 1.5% when QS is in use.

Really.

How interesting.

I'll see how b21 does. If things are still strange I'll do a clean install of everything. I'm due.
