Incase you haven't noticed, since the into of the Intel Macs, Apples web site no longer lists any computer products as 'Macintosh', but they are now all 'Macs"

Just a little thing I noticed...
iMac Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 1.25GB RAM | 160HD, MacBook Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 13.3" | 60HD | 1.0GB RAM

It's not Federal Express anymore, either, its FedEx.

It's called marketing, and sometimes, it actually works.

Welcome to 2001. The term "Macintosh" was dropped with either the first or second G4 towers. It's been Mac ever since then.

No, until the introduction of the Intel macs, the Apple online store had on the left hand side, where it has all the short links to everything, computers listed under 'macintosh'. Now, however, they are listed under the headings "New Macs (Intel)", "Desktops (PowerPC)", and "Laptops (PowerPC)

Right. Officially the term Macintosh was dropped around 2001. The last product to use the term "Macintosh" was the "Power Macintosh G4". The gigabit ethernet G4 was referred to as the "Power Mac G4". This was the last product to ever use the term Macintosh.

My theory: They did that because people accused them of not using "chicken" in the title because they believed they weren't using anything that could legally be called "chicken."

Or not.

But it is a good theory.

About two years ago in bar I asked the the boss of KFC China why they changed the name, he claimed it was because if the "fried", I mentioned the theory about the chicken, he did not think I was very funny.

My middle school only used Macs and we had a sea of Ruby and Sage iMacs in every lab. I would play that game all the time.

In fact, I loved it so much that I purchased this tee-shirt a few months ago in honor of that game.

Long live Oregon Trail!

I had heard the "fried" theory at one time too. It's probably closer to the truth.

Where is KFC going back to the full name? The website still refers to the contemporary restaurant as KFC.

It would be crazy for them to do that in Asia, KFC works in all languages, "Kentucky fried Chicken" is gibberish for most of the worlds population.
