I think the real moral of this story is that whether she was pushed or not, there's no logical reason for anyone to wear high heels. Look at her friend, who was able to save her: sensible shoes. Coincidence?

Why do so many of you try to blame the woman? She was drunk, she is lying, she wore high heels...
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Because the guys up for a murder rap and the
pics don't make the situation out as a malicious,
murderous attempt on her life as you and the german
media are trying to do.

If you really think that this man just happened to be pointing at a woman falling into a train, then you have an ulterior reason for defending him:

1. You feel ethnic or racial kinship with the fugitive.
2. Youve been accused of assaulting a woman before.
3. Youve been in trouble with the law.
4. You hate Germans in general.

Moreover, a real man doesnt:

conveniently let himself be held back in a fight, especially in public (what a drama queen).
make up for his impotence by physically attacking women.
walk away from a person in distress without stopping to help her (which is the most damning piece of evidence in my opinion).

I say give him 3-5 years in prison. What I cant understand is why nobody on the platform tried to tackle the loser.

I love how there are video photographs of this happening, witnesses, a police report and some people here are claiming it's probably the woman's fault.

Oh wait, I don't love it.

PS. So, I guess it's not attempted murder if I empty a box of nails off the Empire State Building to try and scare pedestrians, either. Guess I've got something to do at lunch!

Exactly, which is why your conspiracy claim is nonsense.

The man was probably walking briskly, all in a huff. He pushes the girl, who doesnt fall immediately, but instead stumbles as she pulls her companion with her into the side of the train. If the train had been moving slower, she might have fallen in front of it.

This so reminds me of men who claim that woman are asking to get raped when they have the impudence of actually walking in the streets.

I cannot believe that people see this as a hoax.

I see these guys every day, the area is full of them, I have got in a fight with one of them (three of his friends standing behind him) once over nothing.

It is not at all difficult to believe that he simply took out his thwarted aggression on a passer-by. This happens all the time. The only difference is that this time, it happened to be in front of a train that just started moving, making it attempted murder.

And yes, trains on that platform start moving at some point, so that, too, is not difficult to believe.

Sheesh.

If you believe this was a hoax, line up over there with the moon hoaxers. Don't forget your tinfoil hat.

They got him!! (just heard it in the radio)

edit: seems that I got that wrong the first time - they just said that they now know who he is and that they are going to arrest him asap, so they don't have him yet...but I think someone is getting nervous now!

Its from the CCTV and the woman is pressing charges.

I think we can assume it happened.

The case is over now.

The offender has been sentenced to 30 months imprisonment in a youth prison.

30 months is kind of a light sentence for attempted murder - don't you think?

The nutcase will be back on the streets in no time.

Well, according to sixz, the guy was only pointing and it was really the woman's fault, so 30 months is more than enough.

I was waiting for a comment like this...

Well, it's a big difference if it's attempted murder because someone really wanted to kill and failed, or if it's attempted murder because someone's action could have killed but didn't and he wasn't actually planning to do this...

In Germany, imprisonment (do you use this word?) isn't used for punishment but for the treatment of a sick mind!
This guy didn't actually want/plan to kill and that's why the judges thought that 30 month should be enough to teach him what he was doing wrong!

He was underage, legally.

Youth sentences are less severe, here, and punishment is generally about the lesson, not about revenge (like in the old Adam-West-starred Batman series).

He was actually sentenced for attempted homicide. And between 18 and 21 one can be sentenced according to youth law depending on development. In youth law prison sentences are lower and rare because correction takes precedence over punishment.

If I understand the case correctly they came back from a tour through clubs and were drunken and frustrated by women because they couldn't land a date.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Rest assured that scenario is unlikely to be played out again.

heh. nah, they'll never go out drinking and leave alone. nope.

But it's all good. I'm certain the youngsters will be treated for the, um, medical condition that drives their desire to kill people.

Generally, if people commit crimes because they're mentally ill, that's exactly what happens.

In this case, apparently, the judges decided that he did something stupid (taking out his frustration on someone else), and that what he needs is a while in a youth correctional facility to think about it.

IMO the right decision.

That, of course, is the ideal attitude to teach people respect for life.
