Mods: My other thread seems to be blank so I am reposting.

Does anyone know if 10.3.9 can boot and run one of the brand new Powermac G5s? (May 2005)

I think tiger came out in April so I want to make sure.

I need to do some testing in 10.3.9 still.

Thank you,

It will boot and run fine except for iApp native support of the superdrive and Patchburn will fix that problem. I know from first-hand experience that at least the dual 2.3 will run 10.3.9 and I don't see why it wouldn't also work with the 2.0 and 2.7.

It'll work, I have a Dual 2.0 I ordered the same week they were updated and Tiger was released.

The one thing you DO have to figure out is getting 10.3.9 on there, since the original 10.3 discs won't boot.

Partitions solve these kinds of problems. Run the OSinstall.mpkg manually from the 10.3 install CD, and install onto the other partition. Then run the 10.3.9 combo updater on the other partition before booting into it.

Maybe some needed app is not Tiger ready, maybe he writes software and need to test it under previous Mac OS X versions…
