Yeah, I know how it is spelled.

Anyway, I am not sure how many of you are going to watch the game tonight but after you do I'd like to know what impression you have of that hideous renovation of the stadium. Quite honestly it is the ugliest thing I have ever seen created and in contrast to the rest of the Museum Campus it looks even worse. I am sure the inside is quite nice but as the only NFL stadium to be hold landmark status they did quite a disservice to the city by renovating it the way they did.
I thought I had problems with the new Comiskey but driving down LSD this summer and seeing the new Solider Field eclipsed my hatred of that construction project in half a second.

I think I'll speak for all of Chicago. It's an eyesore!

Everyone I talk to says it looks awful. I've heard it's awesome inside though.

I'm a Bears fan, but I'm realistic. The Packers are going to kill the Bears. I'll be watching the game tonight at Joe's Sport's Bar on Weed St.

The inside and outside look don't match. I like the outer facade!

Anything would have been an improvement over the old Soldiers Field. That place was falling apart.

And the Packers suck.

Aren't most Football (American Football, not the "real football" but that's another story ) Stadiums an eyesore? I can't think of one that looks decent...

A lot of modern baseball stadiums on the flipside are quite cool... Pac Bell, Coors Field, etc

I'm from Chicago and while it's going to take some getting used to, I'm glad they kept the pillar structure on the sides to keep some of the old look. I've heard the inside kicks ass and am looking forward to going to a Chicago Fire game and seeing what it's like.

This thing looks as if the guys who did Caeser Palace in Vegas had some extra stucco and a few pillars laying around.

It also looks a bit fascist to me, but heh, it's football. As long as the home team likes it.

At the risk of being perceived as a homer, Ford Field, the Lions' new home, is quite nice and has an intimacy like Camden Yards. That said, it is enclosed.

I'm partial to the "old-time" stadia - Yankee Stadium when it was still home to the NY Giants, and the LA Coliseum.
If you watch college (American) football games, you will see some nice architecture.

The Bears got spanked by the Packers!

You heard it here first. I predict the Bears will not win a single game this season.

Maybe two! And if we pray to the football gods, possibly three.

Seriously, I doubt the Bears will lose every game. The very fact that they're the Bears means that they'll win at least four games.

If not, at least the Cubs and White Sox had good seasons this year.

I hope they beat the Raiders this coming Sunday. It would be sooo sweet to see Brian Erlacher stomping on that whiny wuss Gannon.
And yes, that is one fugly football stadium. Typical of a really horrible architectural trend that seeks to mollify preservationists by retaining elements of an older structure, which clash stylistically with the new construction.

I thought it was pretty bad as I would drive by it and see the spaceship, but the more I drive by it, the more I like it. The view as you approach it from the south on LSD (ie from McCormick Place) is actually kind of nice, since it doesn't seem as the new additions dominate the colonnades. Of course, as you get closer, you can't help but notice how much taller the west grandstand is compared to the old exterior. I also went biking on the lake side of the stadium, and that close up view is much better than the view on the west, since the grandstand doesn't seem as imposing.

I hear the view from the inside is really nice, although the best view is from the expensive seats on the east. Maybe I'll have to catch a Fire game, just to check out the field.

Oh yeah, and if the the new memorials to soldiers is good enough for actual veterans, it's good enough for me.

Looks like a Peter Keating job to me.

Modern interior with some classical, facade slapped on the front.

(Do you think anybody in responsibility has even read The Fountainhead?)

Taken the level of class of the surrounding area it resides in I am sure nothing could be done to it to make it look tacky.

But I will give you that Miller park is better than US Cell.

I agree, Green Bay is not the best city in Wisconsin. But where the stadium is, it is not bad. BUT, I HOPE you went there before you jumped to conclusions.

BMy Aunt's brother-in-law is the head of Lambeau Field. He can control the stadium from his home computer. (like lights, etc... or if something breaks warnings come up on his PC) he even has a superbowl ring I got to even touch
