i have a cd-rom model imac g3 600mhz that i bought new that has the system restore discs. i would like an extra computer of the same specs and will have to buy it off e-bay. most of the models for sale of these specs came with a cd-rw drive and no restore discs. my question is: will my restore discs and hardware test cd's work with one with a different type of drive? anyone know?

The type of drive does not matter as long as they are the same generation iMac.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

As long as the disks in question are CDs and not DVDs.
You'd need an external Firewire DVD drive if they were.

If those are the correct discs for a 600MHz G3, they should be fine for any G3 iMac.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
