I came into a few Powerbook G3 Pismos.. not needing either of them, and one of them being incomplete.. I figured, seems like a good donor machine for a photo frame!

See pictures here : http://www.flickr.com/photos/theduck...7594510329242/

Frankly, the large vertical "Power Board" limits options a bit, but in any case, it works good :-)

Pretty slick stuff. I like these acrylic frames. I could figure some info terminals with those.

Cool! This thread and the "Flying Toaster" thread have inspired me to do something similar with an old Wallstreet.

Perhaps dumb question, the backlight on the Wallstreet is sitting along the bottom edge of the screen. Yours is flat against the back. Do screens need their backlight in particular places?

Hi icky,

The thing along the bottom of the screen is the Inverter board, which provides the current to drive the backlight, and not the backlight itself, so it can be moved wherever needed (and where it fits There should be two wires going from it to the screen.

If you look at mine, I drilled a hole through the plastic just under the panel, so I could run the inverter cables through that and plug it in on the other side.

Be sure to post yours when you're done!

Aha! That's good news!

Yes, I have looked closely at your photos. I will probably copy your bolt/nut standoffs.

It might take me awhile, but I will be happy to post photos when finished.

Thanks!
