I doubled up the other night after work at the craps table. It was only my second time playing. I also won $300 on blackjack on my 21st Bday at the Hard Rock.

Usually you win for the first time you gamble.

keep doing that against the casino and you're pwn3d.

I've won big twice.

A few years ago, I moved to Las Vegas and after work, I went to a casino to play a little blackjack and wind down. I had about $250 on me. I walked out just after sunrise with a little more than $5,000 on me. I had won about $1,000 playing blackjack ($10-$25 going to 2 hands as my pot grew).
Then I went over to roulette and won a quick $500 or so. After that, I went back to blackjack and won another $500 or so. Finally, I was about to leave but I decided to see how lucky I really was so I put $100 in a $1 slot machine. I almost used the entire benjamin but I then hit a jackpot for $2,500.
After than, I finally lost about $500 at craps, then recovered at the blackjack table with the final winnings.

I lived in Sin City for about 19 months and never won as big again.

The second big win was when I won about A$4,000 in the Sydney casino. Lived it up large for my first holiday in Australia, but ended up losing the last grand at Melbourne's casino.

The motto: Never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

People will win (otherwise no one would gamble), but the vast, vast majority of people will lose.

btw, congrats.

First time I went into Casino (legally anyway) I put in $1 on a 2 cent pokie machine. Bet 1 credit, 1 line. 5 diamonds in a row came up, won $40, I was totally stoked. Had no idea what I was doing.

Second time I went in, won about $200 on the pokies, then bet $10 of that on more pokies, won $400, bet $20 of that, won another $200. $800 ahead.

Third time I went to Casino, won $1000 on a "Cash Express" Jackpot while on a school trip to Adelaide.

Don't know how that happened. Just did. Don't go much these days, don't spend much, normally come out about even.

Nope, I moved in 2000. I worked at the R-J then. I've been back 3 times since.

I think that's the last team Rickey hasn't played for.

As for gambling, remember that while it's possible to win big in the short term, the more you play, the more you will lose. That's not just a saying, it's a mathematical certainty. "lucky" gamblers are simply gamblers who have the common sense to stop while they're ahead.

Same here. I've been a few times, never lost more than $20 per trip. I'm not a big fan of gambling - find it boring.

I've gone a few times and have only really won once... I've broken even a time or two, but as they say... the house always wins (at least in my case)

I won $1500 playing a $1 Wheel of Fortune 5x Pay machine. 3rd spin hit Triple Bar - 5x Pay - 5x Pay. payed 25x a normal triple bar payout. That trip, I ended up winning over $2500 total. Also hit 2500 quarters playing Wheel of Fortune.

The first time I went to Vegas I won $800 on a quarter video slot machine, after feeding it $100. I left Vegas about $500 up. Not bad for a first time.

The very first time I actually gambled, I went to the Black Jack table cuz that was the only game I knew. Only had $20 to spend.

So I spent $20 at the early monring $5 bet tables. I came home with $300.

Fun as hell. Black Jack is easy as to win money at. Just don't bust. I know the percentages, but they just don't stack up against pure chance. I never hit on anything higher than 11, so I never bust. I double down on 8, 9, 10, and 11 if the dealer has 8 or less showing. If I win big, I cut out early. You're gauranteed to lose if you continue playing.

I usually take $50 or so from my winnings and go to a learning session in the morning (if I'm not too tired from the previous night/day.)

Number one rule with gambling is to set your limit and NEVER go over. There's always next time. Oh, and don't go with the idea that you're gonna make money. You'll only disappoint yourself.

Technically bingo and poker are gambling. Lawfully, bingo and poker aren't gambling because you're playing against each other and not against an establishment.

My god! You must clear a table out in a matter of hands. I just hope I never end up at a table near you.

Blackjack is a team sport. If an entire table plays by the odds, you have a decent chance of making some money.

Oh, I forgot one other great night. Back in the Vegas days again, went to a casino after work to wind down and ended up at a blackjack table. The dealer old the few of us that it was his last-ever shift as he was going into the coin-dealing business so we should have fun and make some money.
At first, I was a little leery, but very in a very subtle manner, he showed us his cards. We must have won 15 consecutive hands. I don't remember the amount I won but it was a few hundred.
