Who's going to be watching the webcast, and what speed connection will you be watching it on?

--------
I'm in NZ, and stuck with a shitty 128K DSL connection (read: 12K download maximum. - one of the downsides to living in a 3rd world country). Also with the time difference, I'll have to be watching at 2am.

yay, yippee, huzzah.

Bastards.

Ethernet. I'll probably be watching that and the techtv thing at the same time. In case there's not enough bandwidth or something, I'll watch techtv, in case techtv butts in too much with commentary, I'll watch the webcast

56k modem. Quicktime. At 4AM.

In a very small window, refreshing every 30 seconds.

Watching MWNY i got about 40 out of 60 seconds per min, the rest of the time waiting for it to refresh.

Is there any other faster better way to watch? No, I don't have cable TV.

TechTV...I think.

I was happy to learn that my cable lineup has picked up TechTV, but it sounds like other people may have had some bad experiences in the past with voice overs. Is this the case? Do they tend to talk during the keynote? Do they carry it in its entirety?

The keynote is not currently listed on my TiVo program guide, but maybe it just isn't scheduled programming.

If TechTV doesn't work out then I will be watching it on a DSL line on my G4/867 or on the couch using my Lombard with an Airport connection through the G4.

Very excited,
kman

I usually grab a megabit stream and have a reasonably good viewing, but this year I'll be in class when Steve hits the stage. I'll try to get some up-to-the-minute news in between my classes, and will try the stream later at night on my T1+ cable pipe.

Hi,
I may have a good solution for you:

The URL is http://public.itoast.de/livecoverage/

It's better to watch the stream but actually not to watch it, because your connection sux?

We will do a live coverage of the keynote. It will be interesting to see if the connection of our host is good enough for that :-)

Yes, it is 5pm. I hope I get nice fluid video streaming and the presentation is worth the time.

Ditto

What I am going to do is just record what ever is on at 12 PM noon and watch it later in the day. Because I want to when the Keynote is over to go to Apple's site and see all the coool new stuff there. So maybe at 3 PM I'll go to www.apple.com and be blown away! Then after I'm done drooling watch the Keynote that Tivo recorded.

About a Mac Show on TechTV. I have been saying that for a long time (not on the forums though) that they show at least give us 30 minutes a week show hosted by Brett and Leo (Leo rocks!!!).

I used to watch TechTV a lot and esp TSS. But I stop because the only thing is Windows on TSS hardly ever Mac. And I really don't like Pat either.

But no one is bad as that Chris Pirrollo. Yuck!

TechTV is Ch 515 on Bell ExpressVu in Canada. There's currently nothing listed other than regular shows. Which show will the keynote be broadcast in ?

Cheers,
Ben.

Quicktime webcast with 700k DSL. People bitch about the quality of the video but last year I thought it was a huge improvement from the previous year and I have no complaints

There's a Very good chance the keynote won't air on TechTV Canada.

The Rasson? By Law of the CRTC 50% of the programming must be Canadian made content. So even if the keynote does air in Canada, @10AM PST except Dave Chalks PC Only show must air @ that time By Law.

I'll be watching it via satellite downlink at the county civic center. Since the satellite feed room is next to the main auditorium (compete theater setting et-all) I think I'll route the video and audio to the big screen in there. Then all I'll need is popcorn and beer. Damn those anti-alcholic restrictions. Coke and Pepsi will have to do.

Gotta find a TV at school somewhere ... luckily 11:00 central time falls right during my lunch hour (which is only about 28 minutes) .

I'll also record it on the VCR at home... unfortunately, my school's T1 line can't be used because the iMac in the library (that's right, THE, as in singular Mac) has only QuickTime 4 on it. Foolproof has it all locked up...

(edit: okay, this was actually my 301st post... wonderful, my 300th must've been my admiration of Erica Hill )

"Steve Jobs' Speech" (From Macworld) shows up on my cable companies programme guide. However, it's listed as 9am - 12pm. The only problem with that is that I live on the east coast. Perhaps the rumors of the iWarp is true! I guess TechTV can't even get their own schedule right.

Cheers!

Watching it at home via DSL on 500 Mhz iBook (which may be for sale at a very good price at about 2:00 PM EST) I have gotten a good stream in the past, just keep window small.

I have a class - doh.

but it's macromedia director, and the teacher is really into all things mac. So I'm hoping we'll watch it instead of go over the syllubs. I hate the first day of school.

On the TiBook with a flaky @Home cable connection (hope it's being good tomorrow). Too lazy to go hook into the campus T3, getting up before noon to watch it is enough of a task!

It's Official on Most Digital Cable/Sat guides, The following is listed

"Steve Jobs/Expo"
"Steve Jobs MacWorld Expo"

10AM-11AM

Then Internet Tongith is listed as 8:30AM-10AM, so there's the mistake in the guide.
