So they are going to let that non-symptomatic nurse go home.

Despite the science saying she wasn't dangerous, I think I'd be ok with quarantine measures such as hers if they also weren't such jerks about it. It's telling that a TSA rep with no medical experience wielding an inaccurate forehead thermometer trumps the medical experience of the nurse who's just spent months diagnosing and treating ebola.

Ebola and Quarantine: Editorial

"We should be honoring, not quarantining, health care workers who put their lives at risk not only to save people suffering from Ebola virus disease in West Africa but also to help achieve source control, bringing the world closer to stopping the spread of this killer epidemic."

I have no problem putting her under mandatory home quarantine for 21 days, but putting her in an unheated tent with paper clothes and no shower is just ridiculous, with the current state of the 'outbreak'.

I see her point, but kind of think it's pushing it at this point.

Also, Christie is an ass. "Sue me, I've been sued before."

I think there's a reasonable middle-ground and I think she's blind to it because Christie's knee-jerk completely enraged her.

And note that the article you cite talks about "certain strains surviving" for extended periods when stored at low temperatures. So until it gets really cold outside, just paying attention to the stuff we are ssupposed to pay attention to during cold and flu season is going to work: cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, wash hands thoroughly and frequently (not just hand sanitizer - it works best at drying out your hands), and not touching your eyes, nose or mouth after touching anything.

So Obama is ordering the military sent to build the isolation centers to be quarantined for 21 days while later saying Health workers don't need the mandatory quarantine out of respect..... So is Obama just disrespecting the military again or is he just being an idiot again?

Media having a field day because the nurse is still under voluntary quarantine and decided to go for a bike ride. Police followed her. This is reality.

Comment I read on Globe article: "Great, now is that cop going to be under quarantine? The reporter who took her picture?"

Despite the facts that a) she's not symptomatic, b) the cop was following them by 200 yards.

You might think the police were making sure she didn't stop by starbucks and hug random people, but then more comments on the article were hoping "some tractor trailer driver swerves and hits her." So maybe they were there for her own protection too.

Humanity.

I didn't realize that until after I posted, but yes, the police are serving a dual function in that regard.

Looks likes the Gov. is gonna use all his powers due to her tantrum ride. This will be interesting for a while it seems.

Judge issues order enforcing Ebola isolation of defiant Maine nurse | Reuters
The confrontation between the state of Maine and a nurse who treated Ebola patients in Sierra Leone heated up on Friday when a judge issued a temporary order enforcing a quarantine after she defied state officials and took a bike ride.

The order from Charles LaVerdiere, chief judge of the Maine District Court, instructs nurse Kaci Hickox to submit to "direct active monitoring," and "not to be present in public places" like shopping centers, movie theaters or workplaces except to receive necessary healthcare.

The temporary order permits her to engage in what the judge called "non-congregate public activities" like walking or jogging in the park but instructs her to maintain a 3-foot (1 meter) distance from other people.

A lot more reasonable than what essentially is house arrest.

^^^

Seems reasonable. It allows the nurse freedom of movement while still accommodating the legitimate concerns of the public.

I believe she's being monitored by health officials daily, as well, which I think is the most reasonable and prudent interference to put onto her life.

She was already self-monitoring and reporting, via the instructions by the CDC and Doctors Without Borders.

Another judge has put a stay on that ruling. This IS getting interesting. I wonder if the White House is orchestrating this as a change of focus from the mid-terms?

I think it's reasonable to want third-parties to do the monitoring.

Another open border problem, NOT Ebola this time, but it does call into question the policy of open borders.
