Since we have a worst songs of the 80's thread and someone suggested it I figured I'd start the topic.

Oh oh oh... Anything by Nirvana or/and Metallica. Anything.

[edit] During the 90s mind you. Well, Nirvana wasn't the absolutely worst. Just one of the most overrated bands of that time. New Kids on the Block.... shiver, made some really bad things. "Step by step" or something, was one of their hits. Ugh.

Another vote for New Kids on the Block. There is quite a bit from the 90's. I think it was one fo the worst decades for music.

My daughter made me listen to N'sync No Strings attached all the way through in the car yesterday.

Right now, anything off of it gets my vote. I am so fed up with the auto-tuned vocal synth sound I could scream. But not scream like Whitney. Nobody should EVER scream like Whitney.

I believe the proper transcription of Whitney's "I will always love you" is not possible with roman characters, but at least this one os slightly more accurate.

It's just gotta be Achy-Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus. To fully appreciate how bad this song is, one must read what passes for lyrics:

You can tell the world you never was my girl
You can burn my clothes up when I'm gone
You can tell your friends just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke about me on the phone

You can tell my arms go back to the farm
You can tell my feet to hit the floor
Or you can tell my lips to tell my fingertips
They won't be reaching out for you no more

(Chorus)
But don't tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man

You can tell your Ma I moved to Arkansas
You can tell your dog to bite my leg
Or tell your brother Cliff whose fist can tell my lip
He never really liked me anyway

Or tell your Aunt Louise, tell anything you please
Myself already knows I'm not O.K.
Or you can tell my eyes to watch out for my mind
It might be walking out on me today

(Repeat chorus to end)
God...it hurts the brain just reading those words...

Sorry to hear that. How are your ears? Did you hold your lunch in? I'm sure a Disney soundtrack or something would have been better.

No, we're talking about the worst songs, not the worst bands. In many cases, the bands would be one-hit wonders. Or maybe it's more like hit-and-run. Let me add a coupleļæ½

anything by the Spice Girls

Yeah, you're right. I wasn't quite specific enough. It's just that someone who posted before me was listing bands, so I based my response on bands too.

Actually I'd likke to add that "I'm so horny, so horny, horny horny" song and "Mambo no5".

But when talking about the 90s, it is diffucult to name sepcific songs, rather than bands due to stupid stupid record companies.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

If the question had been "what was the best song of the 90's?" I would have expected "Pretty fly for a white guy" by the Offspring to feature somewhere in the thread.

Punk pop at it's finest.

What Is Love by Haddaway comes to mind. I think that was early 90's material. I just can't stand it. Having to wake up to the alarm with the radio station playing that song day in and day out during the grade school years irritated me.

I was in a cover band for years, and we covered some Metallica. They're charlatans and poseurs who can't play their way out of a paper sack.

That's "Mambo No. 5" by one hit wonder Lou Vega.

I can't think of the worst song, probably any good song ripped off by a hip-hop group.
