Alright, I'm sick of the morons who just post a +1 for a reply, in an effort to jack up their (pointless) post count.

What do you say we vote to ban anybody who does that crap?

No they do it because they think they are being clever and funny.

Don't forget: "In before lock".

Now that's comedy!

How does that work? A mod sees that "Wataru" puts +1 and they lock the sucker down based on your detailed comment?

Oh, I thought a +1 response was an attempt to bump up a topic so that it would be more likely to receive responses. If indeed it is used to increase post count then I vote to have those people warned / suspended.

While we are on topic, I believe people who stupidly copy and entire post to give some simple response like "I agree" should also be warned suspended. Also people who copy and entire post when their response only deals with part of the original poster's arguments.

Only if you disagree with me. j/k No, you aren't a moron, you were just annoying me with your pickyness, when you knew what I meant. JTLfanboy, on the other hand, is a lost hope when it comes to logic.

I must've been on one of my away-from-MacNN-sprees when this fad took place. All of a sudden I came back and it was like kudzu, all over the board...

is this aimed towards me? i said i agreed with part but not all, what are you even getting at? if you just mean people in general, i don't think that this one's a big deal.

No, once people have derailed a topic enough it usually gets locked.

Yeah, people generally write "bump" or something relevant to the topic when they want to bump up a thread. The +1 thing is stupid. Post counts don't mean a thing, as far as I'm concerned.

No it was not aimed towards anyone in particular.

Am I the only person who finds it annoying when people quote the entire post of someone else for no valid reason? Specially when it was a long post?!

No, usually the thread sucks before those come in. What I do hate is when people post a large image or a giant piece of non breaking text and you have to scroll back and forth for EVERY post. Now that should get someone banned

I think some bulletin board actually just resizes an individual post if an image is large, rather than resizing the board...

Whatever it is, let it be equal to n and add 1 (i.e. n+1). Now only treat the real part of it (i.e. put n "aside" and you're back at 1).

Regarding the poll, how about an "I don't care" option?

I'm sick of morons who read Fark and then run over here to the MacNN lounge and post a thread on one of the headlines they just read on Fark.

well.

IMO a +1 has always been a sort of sign of disapproval of the thread/previous comments. its like, your stupid comment pretty much did nothing more than add a number to your post count, and thats all this post is going to do too.

+1 can't be censored, as it's useful in a lot of other things.

post counts can be adjusted for +1 offenders.

bottoms can be spanked for repeat offenders. and not the good kind of spank either.

it all just gives me an excuse to use this:
