I'm interested in having a Cocoa app (UI and all the works) working with some exisiting perl scripts. I know I can use NSTask, NSPipes etc. to do some of the integration but I'm looking for a different approach -assuming that there is one.

This doesn't seem simple since Objectice-C is compiled and perl is interpreted and as such the runtimes appear to be very different creatures. However, I've heard of many kinds of Cocoa mixing i.e with perl, ruby, python and tcl and I wonder if what I'm thinking about exists. If so, can anyone of you provide some URLs.

Thanks,

There's an article about the PerlObjCBridge at cocoadevcentral:

http://cocoadevcentral.com/articles/000076.php

I didn't read through it, so I'm not sure if it offers anything more than what you've found. A google search for "perl cocoa bridge" might lead you to something useful. There's the CamelBones bridge framework too, it may or may not offer more than Apple's:

Thanks for the post. I had already looked into that link. It's pretty good stuff but it appears to be limited to Foundation classes. On the other hand, It's the Application Kit classes that would make things more interesting. Imagine something like perl/cocoa as an alternative to perl/tk.

CamelBones looked interesting, I even submitted a couple of patches, but it seems to be dead now.

The camelbones is in line with what I was thinking. Has anyone spent time with it? Any comments?
