Anyone try using the opensourse QEMU emulator to run alt OS's?

If so, I've got it up to boot to dos but have, to no availe, been trying to install XP from an install disc. Just can't figure out how to start the installer from the dos. Need to either somehow access the CD volume, but can't. Maybe it needs an ISO image creatted first. Other option is have a boot floppy image. But I'm stumped.

If you've succeeded in any of this, help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a good link to resources and the main page if anyone's interested and can figure it out.

I really haven't had the time to experiment with QEMU (hopefully I'll have it during the summer!), but, AFAIK, there's an interesting Windows installation tutorial on the QEMU web site: maybe it could be, at least partially, helpful...

I'm installing Windows 98 right now. Try this:

Code:
/usr/local/bin/qemu -m 128 -hda hd.img -fda bootfloppy.img -cdrom windows98.cdr -boot a
hd.img is your hard drive image of course, which you created with the command:

Code:
dd of=hd.img bs=1024 seek=1000000 count=0 (or whatever size you want, this is 1gig)
you have to partition and format the drive in dos

bootfloppy.img is whatever floppy image you're booting off of, (bootdisk.com has some). I couldn't get Qemu to boot off of drive R:, which is the default cd-rom drive letter I think, but I didn't try long.

'-boot a' tells it to boot on the floppy drive

when dos loads up, just switch to drive R:, then type SETUP and you should be set
