Upon receiving my new 20" iMac, I attempted a target disk mode transfer from my old G5 which ultimately failed after 3 hours, stating "due to an error, the tranfer has failed". That suct, so I then did a clean install and had a look for oddities, the major one I found was that I could not rename the Hard Drive, upon highlighting the text, once I entered any new name, the finder dissappeared as did the icon for the drive, only ro reappear moments later. It was easily repeatable as I demonstated to the local Mac shop techs. They initially claimed Bad Ram, but the problem persisted with any ram. They say it is a logic board, I am not sure I agree. Any advice or has anyone had this problem before???

If you've already tried a clean install, send it back and ask for a replacement or at the very least, a new logic board. Did the local Mac techs check the hard disk too?

The iMac is at the dealer now waiting for a logic board, but..., if I want a replacement I fear being placed at the end of the order que.
That would suck.
